WHO ARE WE
Blue Tiger Physiotherapy is owned and run by James Palmer BSc Hons Physiotherapy MCSP, ACPSEM.
James has thirty years NHS experience, training as a Registered General Nurse at Guys Hospital London in 1986. Having worked in Orthopaedics James specialised in Spinal Injuries and this ignited his passion for Rehabilitation services.
James trained as a Physiotherapist in Leeds and worked as a senior in trauma and orthopaedics at St James’ teaching hospital. On the birth of his children James re located to York and began a prolonged and ongoing passion for the development of rehabilitation services for older people in York.
James continued to work in the Community Rehabilitation Hospitals with periods of secondment to develop services. These included the Rapid Assessment Team in A+E and the setting up of new rehabilitation services at Archways Intermediate care facility before returning to main stream rehabilitation services. James also developed a specialist interest in the treatment of Parkinson’s.
James has been an Honorary Senior lecturer at HYMS teaching 4th year medical students. James is also a respected and experienced educator and has extensive experience of people management appraisal and developments of skills and competencies for various levels of skill.
James worked as a Senior Physiotherapist in the NHS Community Response Team as well as running Blue Tiger Physiotherapy Ltd.
Recently interviewed and filmed for Radio York about his role and the teams function.
James has also had extensive sports injury experience, working with Poppleton JFC for many years and York and District School boys teams, North Yorkshire County squad and York City Ladies FC. SEE TESTIMONIALS
James is also a distance runner and road cyclist with many events under his belt and extensive experience of injuries and treatment associated with these disciplines.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Our Physiotherapist will carry out a thorough initial assessment and this can be up to an hour depending on the complexity of the condition. There is access to strength and conditioning referral to our associate Tom Lininsh www.tomlininsh.co.uk
I recommend that you wear clothing that you feel comfortable in but allows the Physiotherapist to examine you effectively.
Based on your examination, a recommendation of further investigation may be made, and if further treatment is appropriate this will be discussed with you so you can make an informed decision with your Physiotherapist.
Subsequent treatments are usually of 30 minute duration.
Please note that all under 16's must have a responsible adult with them for all assessment and treatment episodes.
